Lisa joined the Cichowski lab in the fall of 2019, and is currently investigating novel combination therapies for NRAS-mutant melanoma. Before coming to graduate school, Lisa majored in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology at UCLA and was lucky to work in Heather Christofk's lab, studying the parallels between viral- and cancer-driven metabolic reprogramming. A Southern California native, Lisa spend her time adjusting to the East Coast by curating a list of the best nacho spots in Boston (the list is tiny, but growing!). Outside of lab, Lisa enjoys freelancing as a science writer for Cancer Discovery and volunteering as an editor for Science in the News, in addition to dancing, dogspotting, and competitively consuming coffee.

Lisa started her PhD knowing that she was interested in cancer research, and the LCBC was a great way to join the cancer research community. One of the best parts of my Lisa’s first year was taking the LCBC's cancer pathology and epidemiology bootcamp in January, and since then, she has been happy to be a part of the many other courses, networking programs, and social events facilitated by the LCBC. Lisa has organized Student Data Clubs and LCBC Faculty Talks, in addition to helping coordinate other LCBC events that occur throughout the year to foster a strong student community. Lisa is also very grateful to have been a 2020 Landry Fellow.
