Program: Biological and Biomedical Sciences
Lab: Karen Cichowski

Eva grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Boston College in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in Ancient Civilizations. There, she investigated puncture resistance of fish scales and completed her senior thesis on this work. Following graduation, she pursued her interest in cancer biology and studied the resolution of inflammation in a range of cancer types as a research assistant at Beth Israel. This solidified her passion for cancer research and she is now a 3rd year PhD student in the BBS program. She joined the lab of Dr. Karen Cichowski and is focused on targeting therapeutic resistance in RAS pathway-driven melanoma.

Eva became involved in LCBC because she loves engaging with others interested in cancer research. She is excited to foster community in LCBC through event planning and serve as a resource to other graduate students as a peer mentor.

If you weren’t a scientist, what would you be? I’ve always been fascinated by airplanes and flying, so I think in another life I would be a pilot!

What is on your bucket list? Run either a half or full marathon in all 50 states. I love both running and traveling so it would be a fun challenge.

What is your favorite form of exercise? I recently got into hot yoga and I love it!

What’s your go-to coffee/tea order? Matcha lattes are my new favorite drink. I recently acquired all the necessary equipment to make fun matcha drinks at home!

There are now 25 hours in a day! How do you spend your extra hour? I used to play the cello but haven’t picked it up in years. I would love to get back into it and start playing again.

Favorite ice cream flavor? Pistachio - I’m a big fan of a salty sweet combo.

If you could be on any game show, which would you choose? Wheel of Fortune would be my first pick. I love word puzzles!

Fiction or nonfiction? Fiction has typically been my go-to, but memoirs are my new favorite genre!
