Resources in Times of Crisis a clearinghouse for information related to personal safety, online safety including doxing, mental wellbeing, incident reporting, and more. These resources include contact information for assistance if your physical safety is threatened, you are targeted by online harassment, or you need support for your mental health and wellbeing.
Protecting against online abuse and harassment - this guide is a resource for any community member who may have been identified and targeted by online abuse, harassment, or intimidation. It helps identify different forms of online harassment and offers steps and advice on protecting against it, as well as, for example, templates for “Take Down Requests.” Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) also offers guidance on other electronic threats.
The Digital First Aid Kit is a resource that has been recommended for those experiencing doxxing or other malicious online activity.
Harvard's Anonymous Reporting Hotline,available by phone at 877-694-2275 or online. Anyone can use the hotline to report a range of Harvard policy breeches including intimidation, threats, or security concerns. The hotline is available worldwide, toll-free, 24 hours a day.
Harvard’s non-discrimination and anti-bullying (NDAB) policies reflect Harvard’s ongoing commitment to fostering an environment in which everyone is treated with respect and can flourish in our community. HMS’ local designated resources (LDRs) will coordinate with Harvard’s central office regarding support and resolution, complaints, training, and educational initiatives relevant to the NDAB policies.
Community Conduct policies and processes in place for reporting acts of bullying, discrimination, or other acts of hate.
If you are concerned for your safety, call the Harvard University Police Department at 617-432-1212 (Longwood) or 617-495-1212 (Cambridge/Allston). The HUPD takes hate crimes seriously, and any acts or threats of violence, harassment, or intimidation may be reported directly to the department.
The HMS Security and Campus Safety team offers both walking and taxi escort services Walking escort services are available 24 hours a day by calling 617-432-1379 at least 15 minutes ahead of your departure time. A security officer will escort you anywhere on campus or to the nearest MBTA stop. Taxi escort services are available daily from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. from the NRB security desk at 77 Avenue Louis Pasteur. This service is free to a single destination within a one-mile radius for up to four people. Click on the link above for further details.
Blue light emergency phones are available at 41 locations throughout the Longwood and Cambridge campuses. When you push the button on any of these call boxes, you will be connected directly to HUPD dispatch.
