Opportunities with HPREP

Are you interested in mentoring, teaching, or outreach to Boston-area high school students?

Health Professions Recruitment & Exposure Program (HPREP) is an outreach program hosted by Harvard to recruit high school students from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds into science, medicine, and public health. The mission of HPREP is to equip high school students with knowledge, skills, confidence, and community necessary to pursue education and careers in these fields by eliminating educational disparities and increasing representation of underrepresented and disadvantaged groups in science and health professions.

The goal of HPREP is to use fun, hands-on lectures and labs paired with one-on-one mentoring to give students the excitement, confidence, and role models necessary for them to succeed in these fields. Sessions include topics like cancer biology, infectious diseases, neuroscience, leadership, and more!

HPREP will be run online this year on 10 Saturdays from November to January.

If you are interested in mentoring students, teaching/developing lessons, labs, and workshops, or helping with program development and coordination, we would love to have you join our team! There are many roles to fill, some with very little time commitment and others with more.

If you wish to learn more, please email at hprep@hms.harvard.edu, or visit the HPREP website.

Harvard University Peer Coaching Initiative (HUPCI)

The Harvard University Peer Coaching Initiative (HUPCI) is about connecting with other students, keeping things in perspective, and developing professional skills.

For students who would like to

  • Get to know their classmates in a supportive and authentic way
  • Talk through their challenges with an objective and sympathetic listener
  • Prepare themselves to be effective leaders
  • Earn a “Coaching Skills Certificate of Practice”

The Peer Coaching Initiative is an opportunity to

  • Learn and practice core interpersonal skills (listening and coaching)
  • Build a high-trust relationship with an effective talking partner (“peer coach”)
  • Stay more centered and productive during your time at Harvard

Past participants say “this is not a high time commitment, but very high value.” Don’t miss this chance to build community and connect with other Harvard students!
